Head Coach Duey Naatz


Duey Naatz is currently in his 35th year with the Blue Devils, his 15th as Director of Athletics. After 20 years as a UW-Stout football, track, strength coach and instructor, Naatz began his current leadership role in June of 2010.

As Director of Athletics, Naatz is responsible for the oversight of the Blue Devils' 22 varsity programs and is a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet. The move to the administrative chair came following three seasons as the Blue Devils' head football coach. The Blue Devils finished the 2009 season with an 8-2 overall mark, the third time in school history Stout has finished with eight or more wins in a single season. Naatz, who was a UW-Stout assistant coach under three different head coaches, was named the head coach in January, 2007.

Naatz has been involved with new initiatives and projects, including the scholar-athlete program, senior honors night, the soccer field renovation, the upcoming Rec Complex renovation project, and reorganizing the Blue Devil Fund. Under his leadership the sports module continues to grow and offer new opportunities to students.

A graduate of Moorhead State and the University of North Dakota, Naatz served two four-year terms on the NCAA Divion III Football Championships committee, chairing it four times and is currently serving the NCAA and representing UW-Stout and the WIAC on the Division III Championships Committee. Naatz and his wife, Kay, have two sons, Adam and Tyler (Mel) and two grandchildren.
